Profile

He has an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1996), a master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Entomology) from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (1999) and a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences (Entomology) from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (2003). He is currently an associate professor (MS-5 – level 1) at the Museu de Zoologia of USP and associate researcher at the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, DC, USA. He has experience in Zoology, with emphasis on Systematics, Taxonomy, and Biology of Lepidoptera, working mainly on the following topics: Lepidoptera, Systematics, Morphology, Taxonomy, and Lycaenidae. He was Area Editor of the Journal of Research on the Lepidoptera (2010-2017). He was Vice-President of the Lepidopterists’ Society, Los Angeles, CA, EUA (2009-2010). He supervises postdoctoral researchers and Scientific Initiation, Master’s degree, and Doctoral degree students. Vice-Director of the Museu de Zoologia of USP (02/2018 – 12/2021). Full member of the Superior Council of the Fundação Parque Zoológico de São Paulo (01/2019-01/2022). He is a CNPq (Research Productivity – level 2) fellow.
