The missions of the Museum of Zoology are:
- To contribute to the scientific advancement and establishment of public policy regarding biodiversity through quality scientific research linked to teaching and referenced by international standards.
- To form research professors of excellence through graduate and post-doctoral programs, and contribute to undergraduate teaching in a way that is inseparable from research activities.
- To offer cultural products and informal education (outreach) to diverse segments of society through longterm, temporary and traveling public exhibitions.
These missions are substantiated by the Museum’s archives, around which research activities, teaching, outreach, and faithful depositing of material evidence of biodiversity are organized.
