Profile

He has an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Gama Filho (1993), a master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1996), a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP-Botucatu) (2002), and a postdoctoral research at the Museu Nacional da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Universidade de São Paulo, working with the Museu de Zoologia as the Diptera collection’s curator. He is the Editor of the Museu de Zoologia of USP’s publications (Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia and Arquivos de Zoologia) and Associate Editor of the Zootaxa journal. He supervises graduate students (master’s degree and doctoral degree) and scientific initiation. He works in the area of Zoology, with emphasis on Entomology (Taxonomy of Recent Groups), mainly in systematic and taxonomy of Diptera, area of knowledge of most of his publications. At the Museu de Zoologia of USP, he was Head of the Invertebrates Service (2006-2010), Director of the Scientific Division (2010 to 2013), Vice-Director (2014-2018), and is currently the President of the Graduate Degree Committee (CPG) and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Systematics, Animal Taxonomy, and Biodiversity (2018-2020). CNPq Research Productivity Fellow Level 2.

Systematics, Taxonomy, and Diptera Biogeography, with emphasis on Asiloidea.
