Profile

He holds an undergraduate in Biology (2011) and a master’s degree in Comparative Biology (2015) from the University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto Campus. His doctorate was obtained by the Museum of Zoology of the University of São Paulo (2019), from the graduation program in Systematics, Animal Taxonomy and Biodiversity. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Museum of Natural History – Smithsonian Institution (Washington – DC), through the Sara E. and Bruce B. Collette Postdoctoral Fellowship in Systematic Ichthyology (2020–2022). He is a professor and curator in charge of the fish collection at the Museum of Zoology of the University of São Paulo. He works with ichthyology, focusing on the anatomy, taxonomy, and phylogenetic systematics of Ostariophysi (with an emphasis on the Characiformes) and Percomorphacea (Stromateiformes and Scombriformes). He acts as Area Editor (ichthyology) in the journals Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia and Arquivos do Museu de Zoologia, besides working as an ad hoc reviewer in numerous specialized journals from Brazil and abroad.
