Despite being a very young program, considering that the first class was admitted in 2011 and the first master’s degree defenses only started to occur in 2013, the program has already graduated 47 masters and 32 doctors (79 with degrees), with an average of 8.7 titles/year. This average can be raised to 11.2 graduates/year if we disregard the first two years of the Program, when there was still no time for the first students’ defense. Considering only the year 2019, 6 doctors and 9 masters were graduated (15 with degrees). All 15 students graduated in 2019 had scholarships, 8 (53.33%) from CAPES – Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, and 7 (46.7%) from FAPESP – Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo.
The alumni of our Program have been working in the most diverse areas, mostly associated with research and teaching at the most different levels. Some former students also hold technical positions in public bodies and companies, especially in the area of environmental consulting. Among the doctors graduated by the program, approximately 85% work mainly as researchers, the majority being in public institutions of higher education throughout Brazil. Another 5% are professionals in private companies or independent contractors , acting mainly in the areas of biodiversity and environment; 10% are elementary or high school teachers. Among the masters, about 55% are doing their doctoral degree, 20 are professionals in private companies or independent contractors (also mainly in the area of environmental consulting), 10% are public servants, and 15% are elementary or high school teachers.
